We are experiencing product delays for this week’s Special Buys and ask all customers to visit www.aldi.com.au/product-delays before heading to their local store to see what products are available. These delays are outside of our control and we apologise in advance for any disappointment. We are disappointed about the situation too.
Adrian Christie, Director, Customer Interactions explains the situation:
“We know that Christmas is an important time for Australians, especially this year. Our annual decorations sale, including our Christmas Trees, due to go on sale Wednesday November 4 and Saturday November 7, is experiencing delays.
Industrial action, alongside broader supply chain delays due to COVID-19, has resulted in shipping delays for many businesses. Port congestion has created a logistical puzzle to get our much-anticipated non-food Special Buys to stores and into the hands of our customers.
A back-log at key ports means products are being diverted to other ports across the country, often far away from the stores the products belong in. They are then placed on trucks and trains to get them to where they need to go. This adds many unaccounted days to the product’s travel, which is causing our products to be late. This is an issue we’ve been grappling with for a number of weeks, however this week’s Christmas Special Buys have been impacted far greater than expected. These delays are entirely out of our control, making it even more difficult for us to circumvent.
We know many Australians make special arrangements to get to our stores on Wednesday and Saturdays, and we appreciate the efforts of our loyal customers. Whether that be changing work schedules, organising loved ones to look after kids or borrowing a car, our shoppers put effort in when they want a Special Buy that is important to them.
We encourage customers to visit www.aldi.com.au/product-delays before heading to their local store to see what products are on sale. Again, we apologise for any disappointment this might cause. We will endeavour to have these products back in the Special Buys aisles as soon as they become available. Unfortunately, we are unable to determine the exact date. We are working hard to limit the impact to future Special Buys in the lead up to Christmas and thank our customers for their patience.
We want to help Australians get more out of Christmas this year and we are working hard to make sure the holiday period is a grand finale to what’s been a challenging year. Products that are not affected include our fantastic Christmas food range, with many sweet treats and seafood in store now.”
