ALDI-lujah! Special Buys are coming to DoorDash

Dash, don’t walk! ALDI’s exclusive partnership with on-demand delivery service DoorDash is getting an exciting… or rather, SPECIAL upgrade. From Wednesday 7 January, Victorian shoppers will be the first in the country to have access to ALDI’s iconic range of high-quality Special Buys products at the click of a button via DoorDash.

Since launching grocery delivery via DoorDash last year, shoppers have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of ALDI’s iconic twice weekly Special Buys on the platform for delivery. Shoppers have asked, and now ALDI is delivering the extra special goods. While ALDI’s Special Buys availability on DoorDash will first launch in Victoria, it will roll out to most ALDI locations* across Australia from Wednesday 21 January.

Victorian shoppers will be saved by the bell (aka ALDI and DoorDash) this year, with ALDI’s ‘Back-To- School’ Special Buys range available for delivery for the first time ever on Wednesday 7 January. Busy parents can beat the rush from the comfort of their own homes, by getting the weekly groceries and all their kid’s school supplies delivered direct to their doors. Talk about best in class!

Just like in store, ALDI’s Special Buys range will drop on the DoorDash app on Wednesdays and Saturdays and will be available for a limited time only, while stocks last.

From air fryers and tech gadgets, to fitness equipment, beauty buys and collectable gnomes, there’s something special in the middle aisle every week. These are alongside key seasonal Special Buys that customers have come to expect, like Back-To-School essentials, Easter specials and much-loved British weeks, that shoppers will be able to snap up via the DoorDash app.

Victorian shoppers will be able to nab their Back-To-School Special Buys hauls via DoorDash this year, with the range dropping in-stores and on DoorDash on Wednesday 7 January. Some items available for delivery via DoorDash include:

• Stationery essentials including: A4 Visual Art Diary, A4 Notebook, Coloured Pencils 24pk, Ballpoint Pens 10pk, Lead Pencils 12pk and Glue Stick 4pk.
• Lunchbox legends including: Insulated Lunch Bag, Joie Snack On The Go or Juice On The Go Containers, Coolpod Freezable Bento Bag, Snack and Sandwich Containers, Joie Sandwich Cutters, Liners, Dividers, Fruit Cutters, Mini Forks and Wrap Ties.
• Playground basics including: Premium School Backpack, Premium School Joggers, Premium Leather Double Strap or Lace Up School Shoes, Premium Leather Mary Jane School Shoes and Assorted School Hair Accessories.
• Best in class tech including: Sound Block Bluetooth Speaker, Study Timer Lock Box, Study Flip Timer and Assorted Cables and Accessories.
• Study superstars including: Excel Basic Skills Workbooks, Wall Chart, Merit Stickers, ABC Activity Books, Learning Desk Mat and Scratch Stickers.

The announcement follows the launch of ALDI’s exclusive partnership with DoorDash in 2025, which provided a convenient delivery option for Aussies to enjoy ALDI’s award-winning fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, seafood, dairy, bread and household essentials direct to their door for the first time.

Which Special Buys will be included?
There are thousands of Special Buys products that cycle through ALDI stores each year and the vast majority of products will be available on DoorDash including Food and Non-food Special Buys items. Special Buys across categories including Limited Time Only food lines, electronics, fashion, home improvement, outdoor and leisure will be available at the tap of a button.

There are a couple of notable exceptions. Dashers may do the ‘heavy lifting’ when it comes to making sure a customer’s order is picked, packed and delivered to their doors in a dash. However, any Special Buys products that require a two-person lift will be excluded from delivery. Shoppers can check the ALDI storefront on the DoorDash app or at DoorDash.com.au every Wednesday and Saturday to view which Special Buys products are available for order. ALDI will always endeavour to have as much of the Special Buys product drops, where possible, available for delivery on DoorDash.

Can I pre-order Special Buys via the DoorDash app?
Pre-ordering for Special Buys products on DoorDash will not be available. For shoppers who are really keen on purchasing a particular Special Buys product, the best option for them to best ensure they will get their hands on what they’re after is to head into an ALDI store the day the item lands in the middle aisle.

Are there any item limits (e.g. maximum number of items, size or weight restrictions) for delivery orders?
Any Special Buys products that require a two-person lift will be excluded from delivery via DoorDash. There are currently no purchase limits on Special Buys products on the platform.

Will all ALDI stores participate in Special Buys delivery via DoorDash?
All customers within the DoorDash service areas will have access to ALDI’s grocery and Special Buys products on DoorDash. If you are unsure whether you fall within the service area, please refer to the ALDI storefront on the DoorDash app from Wednesday 7 January for Victorians and Wednesday 21 January for shoppers around the country.

Where do I find Special Buys in the DoorDash app?
Special Buys products will feature on the ALDI storefront on the DoorDash app under the new ALDI only category “Special Buys”. Each Special Buys item on the platform will also feature a distinct “Special Buys” badge, making it super clear and easy for customers to spot.

How long will Special Buys be available in the DoorDash app?
Just like the limited-time nature of ALDI’s Special Buys products in store, Special Buys will be available on the app for a short period of time or until sold out. If customers are particularly keen to get their hands on a particular Special Buys item, they should still mark their calendars, set their alarms, and head to their nearest store on the day the item hits the middle aisles.

Will there be any additional fees to purchasing Special Buys via the DoorDash app?
ALDI is committed to delivering the best value to shoppers and that extends to DoorDash. There is a cost to convenience with some items on the platform displaying an increased price compared to the in-store price. If customers want the lowest possible prices, they should head in-store. If convenience matters more, then ALDI delivery through DoorDash is for them.

What is the return or refund policy on a Special Buys item purchased via the DoorDash app?
If a customer is not completely satisfied with their Special Buys product/s ordered through DoorDash, they can return it for a refund via DoorDash support on the DoorDash app. This can be initiated by:

1. Access your customer profile page on the DoorDash app.
2. Open the ‘Orders’ tab to view completed orders.
3. Click on the relevant order from ALDI, containing the items that need to be returned.
4. Click on the ‘Help’ tab, in the top right hand corner of your completed order.
5. Click on the ‘Issue with Items’ prompt, select the items to be returned from the order and write in the ‘Issue Description’ section that a return is to be initiated for the product/s.

The DoorDash Support Team will work through the return and provide updates to the customer, offering a full refund (including the item price, tax and fees). Customers may be required to return the product to their nearest ALDI store to complete the refund process.

Will ALDI also offer delivery of alcohol on DoorDash?
ALDI liquor is not currently available on DoorDash.

Does ALDI operate any online stores where shoppers can purchase grocery and Special Buys products besides DoorDash?
DoorDash is the only platform that sells ALDI grocery and Special Buys products online. Any other website claiming to do so is not legitimate and may be a fake website pretending to be ALDI.
