This year, we’re excited to announce that the Mighty Mini Chefs Food Truck, which made an appearance at the 2019 Hyundai A-League Final games across Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, will be visiting ALDI MiniRoos football clubs across Australia. With some great tasting food prepared on board for football fans to try, the food truck and its accompanying app, is the perfect vehicle to educate kids and their parents about the benefits of eating well and keeping active.

This activity is an extension of ALDI’s three year partnership with Australia’s largest football program for kids, the MiniRoos. The nationwide program, run by Football Federation Australia, is designed to introduce kids to the joys of the game in an inclusive way. ALDI MiniRoos sessions are short, fun, and focused on developing new skills and making friends.

One of the benefits of our partnership with the ALDI MiniRoos is the opportunity we get to play a role in supporting the healthy eating habits and active lifestyles of Australian children.

From June 1, The Food Truck will head to 14 clubs, from Yeppoon in Queensland to Wodonga in Victoria, spreading the message of healthy eating. For the clubs that the truck visits, ALDI MiniRoos participants will be able to play on an app to learn about food and how it impacts their day-to-day lives. It features an interactive game that challenges kids to put together a nutritiously balanced lunch box based on their daily activities. For example, a player might be tasked with putting together a lunch box for a day of sport. Picking from a suggested list of foods, the player is given real-time information about the nutritional value of each food group.  Along with the app, the ALDI MiniRoos will be able to sample healthy treats while having a go at kicking goals and being involved in some fun activities.

This year we welcomed Sam Kerr, Westfield Matilda’s and Perth Glory player, as an ALDI MiniRoos ambassador. Sam is seen as an idol to many young footballers and we’re thrilled to have partnered with her to help spread the message of healthy eating and enjoying the game of football to children across the country.

For any kids that don’t get a chance to experience the Mighty Mini Chefs Food Truck, we have the MiniRoos Mighty Menu on hand to inspire parents and children to cook nutritious meals. Created in partnership with the Caltex Socceroos’ Chef and Nutritionist, Vinicus Capovilla, the seven day menu is full of easy, affordable and healthy meals. The MiniRoos Mighty Menu has been a mighty success, with families all over the country discovering that eating well doesn’t have to be hard work and that healthy foods taste great.
