The results are in, and it’s official: ALDI Australia is Australia’s #1 supermarket for the fifth year running.
Australia’s major supermarkets went head-to-head in the popular shopper-voted Canstar Blue’s Supermarket Satisfaction Ratings for 2022, with ALDI ultimately being crowned with the coveted Most Satisfied Customers Award for a record 10th time in 12 years.
The award win proves Aussie shoppers love ALDI’s ‘Good Different’ shopping experience, from the fresh produce sourced from local suppliers, everyday low prices and additional weekly Super Savers to keep costs down (ALDI shoppers saved $2.7 billion in 2021 alone), and the famous middle aisle Special Buys.
Australian consumers have consistently ranked ALDI as the ONLY supermarket to earn five-star customer satisfaction within the annual supermarket ratings for the past four years.
ALDI remains dedicated to providing the lowest possible prices for shoppers scoring five-stars this year in the value for money and deals & specials categories, but the supermarket also places an equal importance on delivering quality across its ranges to Aussie consumers, also scoring five-stars this year in the product freshness and quality of private label products categories.
ALDI Australia Managing Director, Oliver Bongardt says Australians can be assured that the ‘Good Different’ experience that consumers have consistently praised in awards such as these will never change.
“ALDI has, for the last 20 years, delivered on its price promise to offer shoppers high quality products at the lowest prices – saving Aussies $7.08 billion since the first store opened in 2001. It’s our everyday mission to offer Aussie shoppers the lowest prices on their grocery shop, without ever compromising on quality, so we are delighted to be recognised as the best rated supermarket by Australians.”
“We know price and value for money is a top priority for many Australian shoppers, and ALDI will continue to ensure Aussies never sacrifice on quality or freshness when looking to reduce the cost of their grocery shop. Being credited as the only five-star rated supermarket for ‘freshness of produce’ shows our day-in-day-out commitment to deliver market-leading prices on fresh fruit and vegetables. Aussies deserve access to both fresh and quality products at great value for money, and to be rated the best supermarket by Aussie shoppers year after year is a proud moment for ALDI and our many Australian business partners. Award wins like this are only possible because of our hardworking business partners and suppliers who share our mission to provide the very best ‘Good Different’ experience to Australians.”
“In Canstar Blue’s latest supermarket review, we asked more than 2,500 shoppers for their honest opinions and experiences of buying groceries from retail supermarkets and this year’s results show ALDI have again won out against their major competitors by rating best in the majority of categories. Competitive prices and value for money on quality products remain a big factor in determining where Australians shop, and with the only five-star reviews for value for money, product freshness, deals & specials, and overall satisfaction, shoppers appear to be very happy with ALDI”, says Canstar Blue’s home and lifestyle expert Megan Birot.
This is ALDI’s tenth win since the Canstar’s Supermarket Satisfaction Ratings began in 2011. ALDI has previously won Canstar’s “most satisfied customers” award in 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, and 2011.
ALDI’s commitment to everyday low prices, comes as Aussies around the country are feeling the pinch more than ever with inflation and cost of living on the rise. ALDI’s recent Price Report reported almost nine in ten (88%) Aussie grocery shoppers plan to better manage their budgets or change their spending habits in the next 12 months, with almost eight in ten (78%) saying they will be reducing their spend in some way.
The report revealed a basket at ALDI is at least 15.6% cheaper than at other supermarkets, meaning an average Aussie family can save $1,555 a year by making the switch – and that’s if they are already buying the cheapest products at a competitor store. The price gap widens significantly to 24.7% when comparing ALDI prices to the equivalent branded products, saving the average family a massive $2,468 per year if they usually buy branded groceries.
The proof really is in the points (and stars) from ALDI shoppers which shows that ALDI not only delivers on price but also the excellent quality of its exclusive range of products and fresh produce.
