ALDI’s most-anticipated Christmas products for 2018

From garlic butter Lobster Tails to Sloe Gin Mince Pies, we’re here to unveil ALDI’s much-anticipated 2018 Christmas range.

“ALDI has become a sought after destination for the Christmas grocery shop due to the diversity in our range, including our selection of Australian sourced seafood, ham and poultry, through to our unique European treats,” says ALDI Australia Buying Director, Brett Griffiths.

So what are the products to look out for this year? According to Brett, stand-out products making a return in 2018 include our Specially Selected Petit Fours, Pre-Built Gingerbread House and for caramel fans, our Specially Selected Dulce De Leche Bombe (not to be outdone by the Chocolate Sponge Bombe).

There are also some exciting products launching this year including a Brioche Christmas Tree, Slice & Share Fudge and Luxury Stollen Bites.

To breakdown the above- a Sloe Gin Mince Pie is made up of vine fruits, citrus peels, spices, almonds and sloe gin (sloe is a fruit relative of the plum).  As for Stollen Bites, there’s a bit of history related to this traditional cake-like fruit bread, which dates back to 14^th century Germany and was originally baked to sell at fairs and festivals for holiday celebrations.

It wouldn’t be Christmas without some unexpected guests dropping by. That’s why many of the products in our range have convenience in mind, such as our Turducken which is deboned with a delicious stuffing, Lobster Tails that come with a garlic butter glaze, a range of ready to serve Antipasto Platters and our Pavlova Base that quickly turns into a beautiful dessert with some whipped cream and fruit.

As with all of our products, our Christmas range is extensively tested in ALDI’s test kitchenmonths before products hit shelves. The quality of our Christmas products speak for themselves, with award-winning items forming part of the range including our Vintage Pudding which is handmade in the Hunter Valley and took out Champion at the Sydney Royal Fine Food Show 2018.
